Companies

Broadly speaking companies can be broken down into two categories; Client Administered or Aston Administered. In some jurisdictions, the Isle of Man included, there is a mandatory requirement for directors to be locally resident. In others, such as the Bahamas, British Virgin Islands and other Caribbean islands no such requirement exists and therefore clients can provide their own directors; however, in many instances clients will wish to keep at arm's length from their companies and will request that third party directors be appointed by AIL.

Depending on the jurisdiction involved directors of companies may either be natural persons or bodies corporate. It must, however, be borne in mind, whatever jurisdiction chosen, that directors are legally responsible and accountable for all of the actions of the company of which they are directors. Where AIL provide third party directors to a company full control of the company will vest with those directors and this will include control over the bank account(s) of the company. The directors are also responsible for the preparation of annual accounts (if applicable).
